Christiana Daniell was eliminated from The Voice Tuesday night.

But she certainly went out on a high note.

Her Monday night cover of “Ain’t No Sunshine” cracked the Top 20 on the iTunes singles chart, her top showing during Season 14.

And even if it didn’t result in an instant save, Christiana said her Tuesday save-me performance of “Unchain My Heart” was a full-circle sort of moment.

If you recall her blind audition bio package, Christiana shared the story of how she had throat surgery during her senior year of high school and wasn’t sure she’d be able to sing again.

Well, she recovered. And when she rejoined the high school jazz choir, “Unchain My Heart” was the first solo she performed.

“So that (Tuesday night’s performance) was very significant to me and I feel like that moment on stage came full circle,” Christiana said during a conference call with the media. “I felt very assured and affirmed that this is where I was supposed to be and this is what I was supposed to be doing.”

Christiana said she also appreciated the affirmation she got from coach Alicia Keys over and over during Season 14, especially since she likes to put her own unique spin on the songs she sings.

Here’s what Christiana told Voice Views about her time on the show.

Voice Views: What’s next for you musically? Do you see yourself releasing your own music?

Christiana: I am planning on just continuing to do music, continuing to do shows and stuff. This is all very, very new to me; performing was very new to me. I kind of jumped the gun. I did the show before I did any small gigs or anything like that. So I’m definitely going to do my own music. I definitely have a passion for music and like I said, I hear things differently, so I want to get my music out there, but I want to continue to keep my feet wet.

Voice Views: Have you done much songwriting on your own? Do you have many originals ready to record? And what can fans expect from you musically?

Christiana: I wouldn’t say I’m a songwriter. I have songs down, but I would like to produce the best quality music out there. And so I’m definitely going to take my time with this. But for my sound, I feel like my listeners will definitely hear something eclectic, but definitely with a soul influence. Throughout the show, I’ve done multiple different types of songs, but the common factor, well it’s just my spin on it. And so I’m definitely going to be in the soul, jazz-inspired lane, but it will really be kind of a hybrid effect.

Voice Views: What was your favorite performance of your own during the show and why was that your favorite?

Christiana: Definitely, Monday night’s performance, you know, “Ain’t No) Sunshine.” That was completely me up there. I felt very free. I felt very confident, and it was a great feeling. I accepted myself up there on stage before I looked for anybody else’s approval. And I think I’m very proud of that.

Voice Views: Looking back at your experience on The Voice, what do you think you gained that’s going to benefit you the most moving forward with music?

Christiana: I will say it’s a tie between the experience that I have with my coach (Alicia Keys) and the people that I’ve met. These are connections that I hope that will last for a lifetime for me. I think this is going to be the gift that keeps on giving.
