Her background: Kayley says she can be Susie Homemaker “on steroids.” She loves remodeling her home and does amateur woodworking as well. But she’s also been singing for years and moved to Nashville with her husband for a better chance of pursuing her musical aspirations.
On joining Team Blake: “I remember singing (during the blind audition) and watching him and I felt like he was rooting for me,” Kayley told Media Hub. “Working with Blake is awesome. It’s just great to play music for people of that caliber and get his feedback.”
What the show didn’t show:
* She grew up in Bristol, Tenn., listening to the music of Brooks & Dunn. Her favorite song, according to multiple interviews: “Boot Scootin’ Boogie.”
* Kayley told CelebMix.com her “country, southern rock, bluegrass-loving parents are probably the reason she wound up singing country music, even though she’s explored and enjoys other genres as well.
* She attended the Boston Conservatory at Berklee and headed to Nashville after graduation. That said, her first real post-graduation gig was singing on a cruise ship.
* She told MotherChurchPew.com that theatrical training helped her pour more emotion into her music and dance classes helped her become a better live performer.
* In 2017, she released a eight-song album called “Never Knew Love.” She shows great diversity on it, from the fun-loving title track to the ballad “Corner of Yawkey.”
* She followed that up this year with a single called “You’re Her Man.” You can check that song out below. And it sounds as though she has other singles she’s eager to release.
* Her goals, she told CelebMix, including singing with Dolly Parton and performing at the Ryman in Nashville.
* As for what inspired her to pursue a career in music, Kayley says: “Following the path of music was never a choice for me. I have always felt as though it were written on my DNA as a predestined calling. Even as a small child at 3 or 4 years old, I just knew it would be my life.”
