Her wife, Monique, announced Beverly’s passing on Twitter, writing “Beverly McClellan went home at 4:36 pm. She was surrounded by so much love and we shared some beautiful last days.”
The Voice shared its condolences on Twitter, writing: “The only thing greater than Beverly McClellan’s voice was her heart.”
Beverly had been diagnosed with endometrial cancer following an emergency hysterectomy in late March. At that point, the cancer had spread to her bladder, her colon and her intestines and a Go Fund Me page was established to help cover her medical bills.
Based in Fort Lauderdale at the time, Beverly had released five independent albums before landing a spot on Team Christina Aguilera for Season 1 of The Voice.
She was Voice Views’ pick to win, but wound up finishing Top 4 with Vicci Martinez in a finale that saw Javier Colon named the first Voice winner and Dia Frampton become runner-up.
Post-show, Beverly released the album “Fear Nothing” in November 2011.
