Radha made an impressive debut on The Voice stage as her blistering blind audition performance of Mama Knows Best turned three chairs and prompted Adam Levine to use his only block of Season 15.
Radha indeed joined Team Adam and advanced all the way to the live playoffs before being eliminated.
Now the Jersey City girl — she was 20 when she auditioned — says she’s busy working on new music for her new and old fans alike.
Radha is short for Radharani Martinez, and she’s a first generation Filipino-American who has already released a good deal of music.
In fact, in the two years prior to her appearance on The Voice, Radha released seven singles “High Tide,” “Thank You,” and “Best Friend” in 2017, and “Somebody Like Me,” “Saint,” “Chances” and “Mama” in 2018.
Here’s what Radha told Voice Views about her time on the show and her music moving forward.
Voice Views: Where do you see The Voice experience leading you musically? What are your musical goals / aspirations now?
Radha: I’m so thankful to have been on The Voice Season 15! I’m taking full advantage of my time back at home to catch up on writing and releasing music.
The Voice has helped me gain a bigger listening audience and fan base for upcoming music I’m creating. In addition, my vocals, skills, and artistry have been sharpened. Creating covers and releasing music videos will be exciting. I’m looking forward to maximizing the opportunities coming my way!
Voice Views: Do you envision releasing new music soon? If so, can you tell me about that? Either what you have planned or what you’d like to do? And what sound fans can expect?
Radha: Releasing music is my number one priority. I not only want fans to hear my covers, but my original music as well. Fans will feel more colors to my voice and they will hear some pieces of my story. They can definitely expect more power, soul, as well as pop / R&B. This EP will show my vocal versatility as well my marketability (for future collaborations and artist branding).
Voice Views: Which was your favorite Voice performance and why?
Radha: My favorite performance on The Voice was definitely the blind auditions! I felt adrenaline like never before and it sparked a brand new feeling of performance for me.
The blind auditions introduced me to the world. It allowed me to show off what I’m made of and what I truly love doing — singing and performing. This performance meant so much to me because it reassured to me, that I really have a gift and that I have what it takes.
To know that giving my all in 90 seconds scored me a block on Team Adam and more than a million views overnight, makes me smile so hard every time. The blind audition is what started it all.
Voice Views: Is there anything else you’d like to add about The Voice experience?
Radha: Hands down one of the best experiences of my life. I’ve met so many beautiful artists all over the nation and created lifelong friendships. I’ve gotten to work and sing in front of a few of my biggest music inspirations. I grew up watching The Voice, knowing one day I would be on the show. God’s timing is always on time. Forever thankful for this experience. This is only the beginning.
