Get ready for Woodstock, American Idol style come Sunday night.

The American Idol Top 6 will be covering songs performed at Woodstock back in 1969.

They’ll also be singing inspirational songs under the tutelage of Christian music star Lauren Daigle on a night when each artist will take the stage for a pair solo performances.

At stake: A spot in the Top 4 next week and moving one step closer to the May 19 season finale.

We’ve heard plenty of inspirational ballads and songs on Idol this season — heck, Disney night was just two weeks ago — so I can’t say I’m thrilled by that theme.

But Woodstock will offer the contestants a wide range of song choices, from “Amazing Grace” to “Foxy Lady.” With “Johnny B. Goode” and “Jailhouse Rock” thrown in for good measure. And for Elvis fan and Idol front-runner Laine Hardy.

I’m just hoping the Idol Top 6 steer away from songs that have been done to death on singing shows, including “I Put a Spell on You” and “Proud Mary.”

But something upbeat would be nice. And, yep, I’m looking at you Jeremiah Lloyd Harmon. And Laci Kaye Booth.
