It’s called “Good as Gold,” and Todd says on Facebook that it’s a song he started writing way back in 2015.
At the time, he’d returned from a songwriters expo and felt so inspired that he was at least starting a song every day, putting to use all he’d learned.
“Good as Gold” was one of those songs. But two years later, when he was putting together his superb 2017 album “About Memory,” he still had just one verse and a chorus, despite coming back to the song several times.
He revisited the song again after that released and says “something just clicked.”
Todd said it clicked even better after he asked for an assist from producer Ryan Herma, with whom he had worked on a couple of tracks from the 2017 album.
“I was floored,” he writes of his reaction to Herma’s work with the song. “It was exactly what I was going for.”
Here’s “Good as Gold,” the first release of 2019 for the Season 3 contestant.
