Just eight singers turned all four chairs during the Season 17 blind auditions on The Voice.
Brennan Lassiter was one of the eight, doing it with her cover of “You Are My Sunshine,” dedicated to the grandparents who helped raised her.
The feat was all the more impressive considering that Brennan had done most of her previous singing in church and The Voice marked, in her words, “the very first time I’ve stepped out for music.”
Brennan was eliminated from the show during a battle round match viewers didn’t get to see. She and Team Kelly Clarkson colleague Gracee Shriver performed Keith Urban’s “Blue Ain’t Your Color.”
Here’s what Brennan, 20, of Dacusville, S.C., told Voice Views about her time on the show and her plans moving forward.
Voice Views: What do you consider your biggest takeaway / lesson learned from The Voice experience?
Brennan: My biggest take away from the voice experience would just have to be the amount you learn about yourself. I learned so much about my voice while working with Kelly and all the amazingly talented contestants.
Voice Views: Can you tell us a bit about the battle we didn’t get to see?
Brennan: The battle was incredible. The stage, the lights, and the audience, it was awesome! The coaches said it was an equal battle which was pretty cool to hear considering Gracee is so talented! We had a lot of fun!
Voice Views: The battles were filmed over the summer. What have you been doing musically since then and where are you hoping The Voice experience leads?
Brennan: Since this summer I’ve been working a lot and writing. Trying to find exactly who i want to be as an artist and what I want to say.
Voice Views: Do you plan to release new music anytime soon? If so, can you tell me about that — what you’re planning, what fans can expert in terms of sound and the timetable for doing?
Brennan: I will be releasing new music very soon and I’m so excited for it. It will really be expressing me as an artist which I’ve never really done before so I’m so very excited to share it with everyone.
Voice Views: Is there anything else you’d like to add about The Voice experience?
Brennan: Again, I’m so thankful for this opportunity and I’ve made some really awesome and lifelong friendships that I would’ve never if I would’ve never pursued the voice. I’m forever thankful. And the summer of 2019 will always be an instrumental part of who I am.

Really Hated to see Brennan leave the voice so soon. I thought she did not get an adequate shake or a good song. She has great row talent and should go forward and continue to get good coaching.
