Check out some of the latest post-Voice releases below.
This week’s releases include new singles from The Swon Brothers (with a special guest), Nobody’s Girl, Citizen Queen, Kimberly Nichole and Ryan Innes.
If you’re wondering about Nobody’s Girl and Citizen Queen, the former includes former Voice and American Idol contestant Hannah Mrozak; the latter includes Rebecca Loebe of the very first season of The Voice.
The links below take you to the songs on Apple Music. You can check out snippets of the songs from Spotify below.
The Swon Brothers from Season 4 released a new single Friday called “Travelin’ On” and it features a guest appearance from Vince Gill, who sings and plays guitar on the track. In a Facebook chat with fans, Zach Swon calls that “a dream come true … some of the first songs I learned to play were Vince Gill songs.” “Travelin’ On” follows “This Town” as the second single of 2019 from Zach and Colton, the most successful duo to ever appear on The Voice.
Nobody’s Girl, featuring Rebecca Loebe from Season 1, has released a must-hear cover of Tracy Chapman’s “Fast Car.” Nobody’s Girl features the combined talents of three female singer-songwriters, BettySoo, Grace Pettis and Rebecca. Dream roll, please: They’ve signed with Lucky Hound Music, plan to finish an album with producer Michael Ramos in January and plan to release that album next summer. They’ll also be releasing a couple of Christmas singles. As for “Fast Car,” it’s the very first song they performed together two years ago before officially becoming Nobody’s Girl. The trio will be touring the East Coast this months with stops planned in Pennsylvania and Maryland; check out all the dates on Facebook.
Kimberly Nichole of Season 8 appropriately chose Halloween as the release date for her wild, rollicking cover of “The Witch” by The Sonics. It’s the first track released from the Rock Ballerina’s upcoming album, “The West Coast Seattle Girl,” set for release next year. Kimberly finished Top 6 on The Voice.
Citizen Queen, featuring Hannah Mrozak from Season 13, has released a cover of Her’s “Best Part.” The five-member female a ccapella group also stars Cora Isabel, Kaylah Sharve, Kaedi Dalley and Nina Nelson. “Best Part” marks their first release since signing with RCA Records; check out the music video here. They also toured with Pentatonix and Rachel Platten. Hannah, then 19, finished Top 20 on The Voice.
Ryan Innes of Season 4 released a cover of Ray LaMontagne’s “Trouble,” which is certainly worth a listen and linked to a good cause. It’s part of a campaign in which 50 Artists from 13 countries covered a song by “a famously mustachioed artist.” The goal is to raise awareness and funds for men’s health issues as part of Movember. Half the proceeds from each song go to that cause.
