Among the singers announcing they auditioned is Perrin York.
Here’s more about Perrin.
* From Denver, Colorado, she’s a 2018 grad of Scripps College in Claremont, Calif., and now L.A.-based.
* In 2018, she was part of her college a cappella group, The After School Specials, who earned a spot in the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella in New York.
* In fact, Perrin arranged two of the songs the group performed, choreographed most of the set and left with the Outstanding Soloist award for her rendition of Ariana Grande’s “Greedy.” You can check out the group’s performance of the song below.
* A crowd of 3,000 attended the event and, in an interview with the campus newspaper, Perrin said: “I remember a moment in the beginning of the set when I walked in front of the lights and could see the whole audience. I thought, ‘This is amazing. This is what I want to be doing.’”
* According to her web bio, Perrin started singing, dancing and playing piano around age 4.
* In high school, she became lead singer of Kent Denver’s Quincy Avenue Rhythm Band. The band not only performed locally, but traveled to Italy to play the Porretta Soul Festival and Switzerland to perform at the Montreux Jazz festival.
* But in that aforementioned interview, Perrin says it wasn’t until after her first music theory class in college that she decided she wanted to pursue music professionally. She graduated with a dual degree in music theory and psychology.
* She’s 22, according to her website, has performed in off-campus bands called Graavy and Jive Tribe and with Steve Beyer Productions.
* And while the original music section of her website is empty, is carries a banner that says “coming soon.”
* Perrin’s view on music: “Everybody says they want to be happy and make others happy. For me, singing is my outlet to do that.”
