The Voice has announced the performance lineup for Tuesday’s Season 18 finale.
Of course, that show will end with the naming of a Season 18 champ — Todd Tilghman, Thunderstorm Artis, CammWess, Micah Iverson or Toneisha Harris.
Each finalist will perform twice Monday night and a winner will be named at the end of Tuesday’s show based on overnight voting.
Tuesday’s show will also feature each finalist performing a duet with his or her coach, remotely, of course.
Also planned:
* Kelly Clarkson will perform her new single, “I Dare You.”
* Nick Jonas will perform “Until We Meet Again.”
* John Legend will perform a medley, including his nw single, “Conversations in the Dark.”
* Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani will perform their county hit “Nobody But You.”
* The Jonas Brothers will perform their new single “X”, featuring Karol G.
* Bon Jovi will perform the band’s new single, “Limitless.”
* Lady Antebellum will perform “Champagnie Night,” a song they chose to record on NBC’s “Songland.”
I won’t bore you with my griping that not a single Voice alumni is on that list of performances.
But I can’t help but note that a winning song from “Songland” is being featured, and that a Voice alum (Raquel Castro) had a winning song on the show this season.
Guess what? That’s not the song being performed on the finale.
I mean, what did you expect? A miracle? A revelation among producers that maybe the show’s alumni deserve support?
Nah. This is The Voice, after all.
Disclaimer:
Producers, coaches, judges and hosts on American Idol and The Voice will pretend they are hosting a legitimate singing competition this week and next. Having blogged about singing shows for more than a decade, I can assure you they are not.You cannot go from a Top 20 to a winner in four weeks (American Idol) or a Top 17 to a winner in three weeks (The Voice) and call it a fair and legitimate singing competition.
So have fun watching. Vote if you want. Put very little stock in the results because they will mean virtually nothing.
Most of all, support the singers when their time on the show ends. They deserved a better showcase for their talent.

Allegedly, Cee-Lo and Shakira are going to be performing tonight or tomorrow, as well.
thanks for the tip. not a single alumni though, I’d bet
There’s going to be a coaches’ reunion and medley tonight.
Look for queries of “Where was (insert coaches’ name)?”, instead of “Why didn’t (former) finalist (insert name) perform?”
