That EP features seven songs and is called “Self Titled.”
Arthur co-produced with Angelo Tomas, a musician he met at a coffee house in Wichita, Kansas.
They also have co-writing credits on all seven songs. Arthur, who is from Nepal, uses his real name, Dibesh Pokharel, in that regard.
“This is kind of different from what I did on American Idol and what you heard from me until now,” Arthur says in a video chat with fans. “We had a grand time recording this project.”
The project lands in the soul category on Apple Music, but there are clear funk and hip-hop influences as well.
In that video chat, Arthur says he considers the genre “new age, a fusion of a lot of the music I grew up listening to.”
It is a marked departure from the singer-songwriter, Bob Marley vibe he displayed on Idol.
Arthur was 21 when he auditioned for Idol. He had already released an eight-song album called “Grahan” and a trio of followup singles.

He doesn’t need to win AI for me to want his CD. But he does need to release the CD. None of this virtual shit.
