One of these days, you just know Emerson Nix is going to be teased about falling asleep during his mom’s national TV debut.
Young Emerson was sitting in Carrie Underwood’s lap while Breanna auditioned for American Idol singing Carrie’s hit son “Jesus Take the Wheel.”
It’s a song Emerson typically joins in on, Breanna told the judges.
“He’s had so many car rides where he (Emerson) was going to go to sleep, but I’d get on that chorus and he’d go ‘wheel’ in the car seat.”
Not this time. Emerson dosed off in Carrie’s arms, then in Luke’s to the point where the Idol judges whispered “You’re going to Hollywood,” lest they wake him up.
Now Breanna, 25, from Denton, Texas, is going to the Idol finale. Here’s a look back at her Idol performances. Idol Chatter’s grades for each performance are indicated behind the song title.
