Abi Carter and Triston Harper turned in the most popular performance of their respective groups on Top 24 week on American Idol.
That’s based on YouTube views of all the Top 24 performances as of just before midnight Friday.
Abi, one of Idol’s platinum ticket recipients, is the only singer in the Top 24 with more than 200,000 views of her performance.
She performed “Oceans” by Hillsong United. Luke Bryan and Katy Perry were so impressed, they labeled Abi a Season 22 front-runner.
Triston received similar praise after closing the second night of Top 24 performances with Blake Shelton’s “God’s Country.”
As of late Friday, that performance had been viewed more than 160,000 times on YouTube, 30,000 more than anyone else who performed that night. At 15, Triston is the show’s youngest contestant.
Those numbers mean Abi and Triston likely have little to worry about when Idol cuts from a Top 24 to a Top 20 at the beginning of Sunday’s show. The bottom two vote-getters from each night of performances will be eliminated.
Then Idol’s remaining Top 20 will perform during a three-hour show for another round of fan voting.
The top 10 vote-getters this week automatically make the Season 22 Top 14. The judges will then select four wild cards to join them during Monday’s show.
Other points to note in the YouTube numbers:
* If voting results mirror YouTube views, Jayna Elise and Blake Proehl would head home from Group 1, and K-Blocks and Kennedy Reid would head home from Group 2.
* Kaibrienne (KB) Richins, McKenna Breinholt, Julia Gagnon and Jordan Anthony round out the top five most popular performers from night one.
* Emmy Russell, Mia Matthews, Odell Bunton Jr. and Elleigh Marie Francom do the same from group two. That means eight of the 10 most popular performances last week came from the ladies.
* Two of the biggest surprises: Elleigh’s high ranking among group one, because she’d been pretty much left on the cutting room floor during the Hollywood Week round. But fans must have loved her sassy rendition of “Forget You,” meant as a message to the guy who cheated on her. And Roman Collins, one of the least viewed from night two in spite of delivering one of the best performances.
Here are those YouTube numbers.

All of the contestants are good but my pick is Tristan..I hope that he wins!
Prayers for Triston Harper. He is young and already got a lot of talent to show America .
The American Idol producers
sabotaged Elleigh Marie by cutting her air time. How is that fair?
