The teen duo Hello Sunday made it all the way to the Top 8 on Season 17 of The Voice as members of Team Kelly Clarkson.

Now Anaya Cheyenne, who hails from the same entertainment school, AGI Entertainment, is following in their footsteps.

The 16-year-old from Atlanta, Ga., earned a pair of chair turns during the blind auditions for her performance of “I’ll Never Love Again” by Lady Gaga.

Blake Shelton called that performance “unbelievable,” but Anaya opted to join Team Kelly Clarkson.

She talked about that and her blind audition experience in the following interview with Voice Views.

Voice Views: How did you wind up auditioning for The Voice Season 18 and what prompted you to do it, especially as such a young age?

Anaya: When I first started my YouTube channel I was 12. Over the years, my fans kept mentioning in the comments that I should be on The Voice! Their support was one of the reasons I decided to audition.

Voice Views:Why did you choose “I’ll Never Love Again” for your audition song? What’s your performance history with that song (for instance, is it one you’ve played often)?

Anaya: I chose “I’ll Never Love Again” because it’s very emotional. I felt that the song would help me connect to the audience and the coaches. The song showed my range, my power, and who I am as an artist. After the movie “A Star Is Born” came out, I fell in love, and started singing it from there on.

Voice Views:Did you have a coaching preference heading into the blind audition? And why did you go with Team Kelly?

Anaya: My top choices were Kelly and John, but I went up there hoping for the best, and open minded to whomever wanted to help me grow in my artistry.

Voice Views:And what was that blind audition experience like? You seemed remarkably poised for your age. But you were coming up on the final seconds of the performance before anyone turned. Were you getting nervous at that point?

Anaya: The experience was very fun! I met so many artist, and made friends that love to do this same as me. I let all the nerves go and just did what I do best, and that’s to use my heart. In that moment, I didn’t think of anything else except for, whatever happens, happens. I’m glad it all worked out.
