John Legend said Asher HaVon displayed the best voice on The Voice, even though he wasn’t a member of Team Legend.
Chance the Rapper, left without a single in the finals, flat out proclaimed that Asher should win The Voice during Monday night’s show.
Turns out, Voice fans agreed.
Asher, 31, of Selma, Ala., was named the Season 25 champ Tuesday night, becoming the first member of Team Reba McEntire to take the title.
Josh Sanders, also of Team Reba, finished second. Bryan Olesen and Nathan Chester of Team Legend were third and fourth, respectively. Karen Waldrup of Team Dan + Say finished fifth.
Asher had demonstrated exceptional vocals throughout the show. But the performance that likely pushed him over the top was Monday’s brilliant, show-closing rendition of Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You.”
Here’s a look back at Asher’s winning week on The Voice in photos.
