Miranda Lambert won a sixth straight CMA award for female vocalist of the year Wednesday night in Nashville.
Her ex, Blake Shelton, was trying to for a similar streak in the male vocalist of the year category. That award instead went to Chris Stapleton.
It was one of three awards Stapleton won Wednesday. He also took honors for album of the year (“Traveller”) and best new artist of the year.
Meanwhile, Luke Bryan won his second straight entertainer of the year award. Others nominated for that honor included Kenny Chesney, Garth Brooks, Eric Church and Miranda.
Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood hosted the 49th annual show.
Carrie was nominated for two awards, female vocalist of the year and video of the year, and missed out on both. Video of the year honors went to “Girl in a Country Song” by Maddie & Tae.
The only winner with a singing show connection other than Miranda was American Idol judge Keith Urban. His performance of “Raise ‘Em Up” with Eric Church took the honor for musical event of the year.
