Ready for new music from American Idol season seven contestant Brooke White?

We’ll get some later this month, though perhaps not in the format one might expect.

Brooke is teaming up with Jack Matranga, formerly of the band Self Against City, to release a six-track EP as Jack and White.

You can pre-order the EP, “Gemini,” right now on iTunes. You can listen to the duo’s debut single, “Gemini,” over at EW.com.

Apparently, those pre-ordering now can download the EP on Aug. 23, a week before the actual release date of Aug. 30.

How did all this come about?

According to the duo’s Facebook page, they were paired up to write a song for what was supposed to be Brooke’s next solo album. And penned their first song in just a few short hours.

“I chalked it up to beginner’s luck but, after listening to the playback, I was hooked and knew that we had to write again,” Brooke says.

They wound up writing the six songs that will be featured on “Gemini.”

Why Gemini?

The two also share June birthdays. And Gemini as an astrological sign, of course.

The single is a treat for the ears.

And given her excellent post-Idol album, “High Hopes and Heartbreak,” I’ll take new music from Brooke in whatever form it comes.
