Throughout his run on American Idol, the judges praised Brooks Rosser for his unique vocals.

Those unique vocals wound up taking him all the way to the Top 7 before his elimination Monday night.

That elimination followed one of his strongest nights on the show, as he showed off those vocals singing Taylor Swift’s “Love Story” and Maroon 5’s “She Will Be Loved.”

“What a ride!,” Brooks wrote on social media Tuesday. “End of my Idol journey … but just the beginning for me.

“Thank you for all the support. Saying goodbye to this stage, but taking all your love with me. Thank you for carrying me through this journey. See ya soon.”

The latter is quite likely. The top finishers on the show are typically invited back to perform duets on the season finale.

Who knows? Maybe Brooks will wind up performing with fellow contestant Rae Boyd since the two Marylanders began dating during the course of the show and have posted several duets to social media.

Brooks has every right to be thrilled with his Idol success. Prior to auditioning for the show, he had never performed in public.

Pre-Idol, the 22-year-old had been working as a dementia care medication tech at Hart Heritage Assisted Living near his hold in Bel Air, Md., where he sometimes sang for clients.

The lack of performance experience showed as Brooks jumped from never performing in public to performing on camera on the biggest singing show on television.

But the judges believed he made progress in that regard, especially with his final Idol performance.

“We’re just throwing compliments at you at this point,” Idol judge Carrie Underwood said after Brooks performed “She Will Be Loved” Monday night. “Your voice is just so magical, from the first note you sang.”

Guest judge Nikki Glaser’s reaction: “You can tell you’re in love from the way you sang that song.”
