Between last week’s performance of “A Whole New World” and this week’s performance of “Best Part,” Daniel Stallworth had been dazzling the American Idol judges.

But it wasn’t enough to save him Monday night. The 27-year-old music teacher from Moss Point, Mississippi, was eliminated at the end of Monday’s Top 7 show.

In a post on his personal Facebook page, Daniel stressed that “I’m not upset. I’m not mad. I’m not angry.”

Instead, he described himself as “eternally grateful” for the opportunity that “God placed in my lap” and for the American Idol experience.

An elementary teacher at River Pines Elementary School in Humble, Texas, Daniel said American Idol was “never on my bucket lists.”

But friends and family kept urging him to audition. So with time running out — the upper age limit for Idol is 29 — he submitted a video audition for Season 24.

The judges loved his audition performance of Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’,” and he quickly emerged as a standout once the voting rounds began.

And once that happened, Daniel did set a goal: Making it to the season finale so he would get to perform one of those renown Idol hometown visit concerts in Moss Point.

In his Facebook post, Daniel vowed to make that up to fans and family.

“Moss Point, I’m coming home, and we’re going to do it big,” he says. “We’re going to celebrate. We’re going to have a good time.

“It’s time to work. It don’t stop here. And I can’t stop believing now because I got eliminated off American Idol. I made it to the Top 7.

“I still believe in the same God that allowed me to get this far is the same God that will keep carrying me and taking me places and keep opening doors for me.”
