Bucky Covington headlines country lineup at York Fair

As I announced in this blog a month ago, country music star and former Idol contestant Bucky Covington will perform at the York Fair Sunday, Sept. 13.

WGTY 107.7 announced the concert lineup for its Great Country Radio Stage at the fair Tuesday morning. Bucky will perform a 6:30 p.m. show on the third evening of the fair.

The concert is free with the price of a fair admission.

That’s quite a deal considering Bucky scored three top 15 country hits with his debut album, released in 2007. And considering the York appearance comes just days after he’s scheduled to release album number two.

In anticipation of the album’s release, Bucky has been posting weekly video blogs on his MySpace page, covering a variety of topics.

The most recent, posted Monday, focuses on his guest role in the new Hannah Montana movie. Bucky talks about spending three 12-hour days on the set for filming.

The end result: He’s on film for about five seconds.

Still, he said it was an amazing experience.

Which means he must not have had to listen to Miley sing “Climb” too often.

Just joking. Well, not really.

Anyway, the rest of the Great Country Radio Stage lineup is as follows: Justin Moore (Sept. 11), Trent Tomlinson (Sept. 12), Eric Church (Sept. 14), Richie McDonald (Sept. 15), Dean Brody (Sept. 16), Love & Theft (Sept. 17), Jessica Harp (Sept. 18), Trailer Choir (Sept. 19), Chuck Wicks (Sept. 20).

While the official lineup wasn’t announced until today, Bucky jumped the gun a bit by posting the tour date on his MySpace page a while back. Hence, the earlier blog.
Bucky will be doing an awful lot of traveling around that time. Two days before the York show, he’s appearing at the Navajo Nation Fair in Arizona; three days after the York appearance, he has a show in Monterey, Calif.
