But fans of the Nashville-based singer-songwriter can count on hearing from her again soon.
Cali told Voice Views she’ll soon be announcing her first post-show single, something that’s a bit different from the four-song EP she released back in 2016 (“Love and War”).
Cali was 28 when she auditioned for The Voice with her unique take on Fleetwood Mac’s “Dreams,” turning three chairs and opting to join Team Blake Shelton.
And she remained with Team Blake all the way into the live shows.
Here’s what Cali told Voice Views about her time on The Voice and the new music she’s planning.
Voice Views: What do you consider your biggest takeaway / lesson learned from The Voice experience?
Cali: For me, it has always been learning. The Voice has shown me that every day you can improve on your craft. I’ve learned that I can rise to any challenge and perform well under immense pressure. I belong in music and this journey has solidified I should keep working toward this dream.
Voice Views: Which was your favorite Voice performance and why?
Cali: I think my favorite performance is tied. “Butterflies” and “Wicked Game.” I really felt at ease on the stage both of those times. I felt like I truly belonged there, and the energy in the room was amazing. Those moments were standout in my opinion. I felt that I was at my best as an artist.
Voice Views: What are you post-Voice plans musically? Where are you hoping this opportunity leads?
Cali: I honestly just want to be creative again. I loved my time on the show, but I wasn’t able to perform original songs. I pride myself on making music and being a songwriter. So, I plan on creating music I can be proud of and something my supporters can relate to. A single is in the near future and some more music videos. I’m so excited to see what happens.
Voice Views: Do you plan to release new music anytime soon? If so, can you tell me about that — what you’re planning, what fans can expert in terms of sound and the timetable for doing?
Cali: The new single is definitely coming soon. We haven’t decided on a date yet, but all my fans will know soon. The single is a song I wrote here in Nashville with a couple of amazing writers. It has my sound in it, but it’s sorta different from my EP. It’s a more mature sound. I think people will love it.
Voice Views: Is there anything else you’d like to add about The Voice experience?
Cali: Being on The Voice was an incredible experience for me, and I am grateful I got to where I did. I just want to say that for a viewer, it’s easy to watch the show and forget how hard those artists work on those performances. We eat, sleep, and breathe those songs. I want to take this opportunity to remind people to be kind and remember that those artists put their soul into that moment on stage. We do it to share our gifts and hopefully connect with people from all walks of life.
