It’s time for new music, from The Voice champ Chris Blue says in a social media post. This week, he delivered.

Chris Blue released his first major project since winning Season 12 of The Voice Friday.

It’s a six-song, seven-track EP called “Fresh Start,” a name that certainly seems appropriate.

After all, the EP is being released on Chris’s own label. He says he amicably parted ways with Republic Records — the label that signs and regularly fails Voice winners — earlier this year.

And the EP comes more than two years after his Voice victory.

“This moment is special to me because once again I’ve accomplished something that at one point seemed like nothing more than an idea,” Chris said in a celebratory post on Facebook.

As for the EP title, here’s how he explained it to KnoxNews, his hometown newspaper: “”The title of the EP kind of speaks for itself. No matter where we go and transition in life, it’s never too late for a fresh start. That’s the main thing I want people to know and see and feel.”

Chris had a hand in writing all the songs on the EP.

There are two versions of “Inside Ya,” the lead single he released earlier this summer. It’s a song about finding strength and happiness from inside.

But for a real reminder of the vocals that helped Chris win The Voice, check out “You Are My Heaven,” which I’ve embedded below.

Oh, and Chris told KnoxNews that “Fresh Start” is only the start. He’s already planning another EP for release early next year.
