Crystal Bowersox has released a Christmas single.

And this single, called “Coming Out for Christmas,” has a message.

And it’s precisely the message the title implies.

In a press release announcing the release, the Season 9 Idol runner-up says it “pains me to think that anyone would be left alone or be forbidden to be with their family over something as silly as their sexual orientation” during the holiday season.

“I hope it will serve as a holiday anthem for people who may finally have the courage to live their life as their true authentic self, proudly and unapologetically, and that their friends and family will love and accept them with loving open arms,” she said.

Crystal co-wrote the song with Maria Sharp and it hit iTunes this week. I’ve embedded it below.
