Darious Lyles’ time on The Voice ended in the knockout round Monday night.
But not before he turned in another strong performance, singing Billy Paul’s “Me and Mrs. Jones” in his knockout round match with Mike Jerel.
Darious, 30, of Chicago, turned two chairs with his blind audition performance of “How Do You Sleep” by Sam Smith.
He then advanced to the knockouts following a heralded battle round duet of The Beatles “Come Together” with Nelson Cade III.
Here’s what Darious told Voice Views about his time on the show.
Voice Views: What do you consider your biggest takeaway / lesson learned from The Voice experience?
Darious: That’s very hard to say, but if anything, I learned how to balance my emotions before hitting the stage. There are so many other things you have to do before even singing your song. Show business is very different from just being an artist and performing.
Voice Views: Which was your favorite Voice performance and why?
Darious: My battle with Nelson! It was exciting, and I felt that electricity go through my body like it did during my blind audition.
Voice Views: What are your post-Voice plans musically? Where are you hoping this opportunity leads?
Darious: Going into this competition, I knew that I would have a lot of exposure. This opportunity will give me enough push to reach more people with my music.
Voice Views: Do you have plans to release new music? If so, what can you tell us about that?
Darious: I actually plan to release new music, and I plan to go on tour once this pandemic has died down. All I can say is that you can expect A LOT of music from me.
Voice Views: Is there anything else you’d like to add about The Voice experience?
Darious: It is an experience that I will never forget. This was my debut even though I’ve been doing music for so long. But nothing beats that stage! The coaches, the staff, everybody made this the best experience possible!
