Cedrice was the final singer stolen during the battle round on The Voice Season 18.

That happened following a superb performance of “Stay” by Cedrice and Thunderstorm Artist.

Though both singers received praise for their performance, John Legend declared Thunderstorm — who turned four chairs with his blind audition — the winner.

That put Cedrice’s Voice future in jeopardy. But only for a minute. Blake Shelton used the last steal of the battle round to land her for his team.

Here’s what Cedrice, 28, of San Diego, told Voice Views about her battle round experience.

Voice Views: What do you think was the key to the success of that battle round performance?

Cedrice: The key to success for me was the four years of practice I’ve had gigging in bars and restaurants. All those years of character building helped my success in the battle round performance.

Voice Views: How did the song choice work for you? Did it pose any special challenges?

Cedrice: The song I chose allowed me to embrace a side of my performance that I have been wanting to show. With that came a higher level of performance and vocal skill.

Voice Views: Both you and Thunderstorm got amazing feedback from the coaches? Once he advanced, how were you feeling about your odds of being saved/stolen, especially since Blake had the only steal left? Were you at all aware of the steal situation?

Cedrice: Going into the battle round performance with Thunderstorm, I knew that he was going to win. I felt it in my bones. I assumed that every coach had used their save or steal. My expectations of getting saved or stolen was nonexistent.

Voice Views: And, obviously, you can’t talk about song choice, but is there a side of your artistry you haven’t gotten to display yet that you hope to in coming rounds?

Cedrice: My songs in the blind audition and battle rounds have been slow songs. I would like to sing a song that is upbeat and fun.
