Delaney Silvernell is telling her fans not to be upset over her knockout round elimination from The Voice.
She was looking for the show to provide a launching point for a career in music and says she feels like it did that.
Heck, Delaney even wrote a song inspired by her elimination that she says will probably be the first post-Voice single she releases.
A graduate of Berklee and 21 when she auditioned, Delaney earned a spot on Team Kelly Clarkson with her blind audition performance of “In My Blood” by Shawn Mendes.
She was stolen by Adam Levine following a battle round performance of “Love Me Like You Do,” then performed Kesha’s “Praying” in her knockout round match with Steve Memmolo.
Here’s what Delaney told Voice Views about her time on the show and her music moving forward.
Voice Views: The knockout round was filmed in mid-August. What have you been doing musically since then?
Delaney: I’ve been working on a lot of new material since knockouts were filmed while staying under the terms of the contract. When it’s lifted, I have cover videos and new original music to release, as well as shows to announce! I wanted to make sure I kept the momentum going after my elimination.
Voice Views: Where do you see The Voice experience leading you musically?
Delaney: I think The Voice has given me a solid launching point to build a career as an artist. The exposure has already led to some incredible connections and opportunities that I wouldn’t have otherwise had and I’m extremely grateful for that.
Voice Views: Are there any plans for new music and, if so, what can you tell me about those? How do you think any new music will compare with what you’ve already released?
Delaney: Yes! I’m planning on releasing a few singles and get to work on another EP at the beginning of 2019. I’m really pouring my heart and soul (and all of my money) into these projects. I believe my first EP, “Access,” was like dipping my toes in the water, but I’m really diving into my new music.
My first single is called “Bow & Arrow,” and was inspired by my elimination from the show. I’ve never believed in a song I’ve written more than this one. I can’t wait to show the world.
Voice Views: Which was your favorite Voice performance and why?
Delaney: My battle was my favorite performance. Abby and I had so much fun with our performance, which is so much more important to me than being competitive.
Voice Views: Is there anything else you’d like to add about The Voice experience?
Delaney: I never wanted to win the show. This is actually the ideal outcome for me, so I hope people aren’t sad about the outcome of knockouts. I’m so excited. I never wanted the show to define me, but rather be a launching point. And I believe it did just that.
I’m so grateful to everyone who’s supported me to this point. I just hope that my true fans stick with me well into my career. It’s really just the beginning of something amazing.
