Want to help Haley Reinhart make a video?
You have a chance to. In fact, with just 15 days left in her indiegogo fundraising campaign, you could be the one to push her over her goal.
Haley is trying to raise $30,000 to fund a music video for a new tune called “Show Me Your Moves.”
As of Thursday afternoon, she had already raised a little more than $27,000.
Haley placed third back in Season 10 of American Idol, putting together one of the most storybook seasons the show has seen.
The first two weeks of the finals, she was in danger of elimination. Then she put together a string of performances many believe should have landed her in that year’s finale — yours truly, included.
Three years later, she has a moderately successful debut album (2012’s “Listen Up”) under her belt, but also finds herself about to shop for a new record label.
I talked to Haley about two weeks ago when she was in Atlanta for a Rally Idol event designed to raise money for the fight against childhood cancer.
She’s says she’s in the middle of “switching” the people working around her and, “in a moment of freedom,” decided to embark on the video project.
Haley, now 23, wrote “Show Me Your Moves” with Rob Kleiner, who also co-wrote three songs on her debut album. She describes it as “a funky little jam.”
“It’s super fun,” she says. “When people hear it, I want them to do exactly what it says — show me your moves. It makes you want to dance.”
Haley’s also been writing material for a sophomore album for the last year and a half — music she says she’s “eager to get out there.”
Album number two might have a slightly different sound than album number one, but she promises “the soul remains the same; it’s going to be very sultry.”
And this news is bound to please Idol fans: Haley and Casey Abrams have been writing music together. Their duets were among the Season 10 highlights.
“I’m really excited about what we’ve been doing so far,” she says. “That, hopefully will be on my next album, at least the first song we wrote together.”
In the meantime, “Show Me Your Moves” should be released sometime this year. And Haley also has a song called “Listen” that’s being featured in a new Showtime series, “Years of Living Dangerously,” about natural disasters and the dangers of climate change. The series premiere is set for 10 p.m., Sunday, April 13.
As for that music video fundraising campaign, if you’d like to pitch in, head here.
