“I’ve just gotten a lot of no’s, and it would be really good, for once in my life, to get a yes.”

That’s what Huntley told The Voice in the bio segment that aired prior to his blind audition this fall.

Well, Tuesday night, the 33-year-old rocker from Fredericksburg, Va., got the ultimate yes for a singing show contestant.

Fans named him winner of Season 24 of The Voice.

Ruby Leigh finished second, followed by Huntley’s teammate Mara Justine in third place, Jacquie Roar in fourth and Lila Forde in fifth.

Huntley’s triumph certainly wasn’t shocking.

He’d been a standout on the show since that blind audition, when he introduced the coaches to his deep raspy vocals on a cover of the Black Crowe’s “She Talks to Angels.”

They clearly loved what they heard. Within two lines, all four coaches had turned their chairs and were facing in his direction.

And Huntley continued to excel for Team Niall Horan, not only in the pre-taped episodes, but once the live shows began as well.

He turned in crowd-pleasing performances during all three weeks of fan voting.

And when Monday’s finale came around, he was selected to close the show with a rousing cover of Creed’s “Higher.”

Oh, and yes, ladies, all that hair is real. Huntley cleared that up in an interview with Parade after Monday’s show, saying he’s been growing it for about four years now.

Tuesday, he took the stage again, with coach Niall, for an excellent cover of Bob Dylan’s “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door.” If fans needed another reminder of his vocal firepower, he delivered.

Still, this is a guy who had auditioned for American Idol three times and never advanced past Hollywood Week.

He’d tried to make his musical dreams come true in Nashville, but they didn’t materialize.

That probably helped explain the tears of joy from Huntley as he was surrounded by the show’s coaches in celebratory fashion as Tuesday’s show closed.

Oh, and don’t forget, Huntley’s 6-year-old daughter Stella gets an assist.

She’s the one who decided he should join Team Niall after that blind audition resulted in four emphatic yeses from The Voice coaches.
