American Idol’s Top 3 released music videos Thursday for the singles they released in conjunction with the Season 21 finale.
And Iam Tongi and Colin Stough are still charting, two weeks after their songs were released.
That’s especially good news for Iam, who was still number 51 on the overall Apple music singles chart at noon Friday.
His new song “”I’ll Be Seeing You” jumped into the Top 10 on that chart soon after its release and climbed all the way to number one after his Idol victory.
Iam’s single was also sitting at number two on the Apple Music singer-songwriter chart.
The only song ahead of him — Cat Stevens’ “Father and Son,” a song Iam covered on the show during Disney Night.
Colin and Season 21 runner-up Megan Danielle also cracked the singles chart after their songs were released. Both have now dropped out of the Top 200.
But as of noon Friday, Colin was still sitting at 101 on the country singles chart with “I Still Talk to Jesus.”
Of the lyric videos, Iam’s is the most touching because if features a photo album of his family, including late father Rodney, who inspired his son to pursue music.
It’s also the most popular with 18,000 views on YouTube as of 7 p.m. Friday, compared to 2,200 for Colin and 1,300 for Megan’s “Dream Girl.”
Iam’s single has also surged on Spotify, now topping 650,000 streams. Colin’s “I Still Talk to Jesus” has been streamed more than 322,000 times; Danielle’s single, more than 106,000.
Here’s another impressive number. “Bad Day,” a song Colin released during his time on Idol, has more than 658,000 streams on Spotify.
