The 23-year-old finished seventh on Idol and is now signed to Atlantic Records.
The new single is “Hometown.” Catie is from Langhorne, Pa., in the Philly suburbs, and the song is her reflection on insecurities she occasionally felt living there, according to a press release announcing the release.
“‘Hometown’ is about when you feel unsafe and unfamiliar in what is supposed to be the most familiar place in the world, all because of a failed relationship,” Catie says.
“The fear of them seeing you, and you seeing them, so you hide out in your bedroom. This goes out to everyone who has worn their hood up on an outing to WaWa or refused to go to Trader Joe’s because they didn’t want to run into their ex’s mom!”
The song will be featured on the upcoming EP, “Comedy & Tragedy: Act 1” set for release June 9.
The six-song EP will include three other previously released tracks, “Easy,” “Hyperfixations” and “God Must Hate Me.”
The latter is Catie’s most popular song to date with nearly 58 million streams on Spotify. That makes it one of five songs she’s released with more than 5 million streams on that site alone.
As for the tour, it kicked off this weekend with a pair of Texas dates, in Dallas and Austin.
And it includes stops in Washington, D.C. (Union Stage on June 10) and Philly (World Cafe Live on June 13).
Check out a complete list of dates on Catie’s website. Here’s the music video for “Hometown.”
