As simply Jacquie, former Voice finalist Jacquie Lee has released another new song, California Dreaming.

Jacquie Lee has released a new song called “California Dreaming,” the second track from her upcoming EP.

And, no, this isn’t a cover of the classic hit by The Mamas and The Papas.

It is another song inspired by Jacquie Lee’s move from New Jersey to Los Angeles following her second-place finish on Season 5 of The Voice and the anxiety she felt while discovering herself as an artist.

Releasing her music now as just Jacquie, the 20-year-old talked to Galore.com about that experience last month, explaining that she decided to release her new music independently so she’d have more control over the project.

“I didn’t know exactly what my sound was at the time,” she told the site, “but I knew I was a writer/ artist and not just a pop vocalist off a reality TV show that people could use as a vehicle to make fast money.”

This is her second recent single, following “I Can’t Be the Only One” and the accompanying music video.

Jacquie Lee was just 16 when she auditioned for The Voice and stormed through the competition with her big vocals and intense performances. She wound up finishing behind only veteran pop singer Tessanne Chin.

That hasn’t changed. Both are on full display in the new video, and in this live performance of that new single.
