When voting closed at 11 a.m. this morning, James was the top performer on the iTunes music charts.

His version of Joni Mitchell’s “A Case of You” was sitting at number eight on the iTunes overall singles download chart. He was sitting at number three on the pop chart, just ahead of artists named Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus and Britney Spears.

Because he landed a top 10 spot, he’ll score major bonus points toward advancing to the Top 12 when this week’s Voice results are announced Thursday night.

James, 22, a former Lancaster, Pa., resident and Lampeter-Strasburg grad, competes on Team Adam Levine on the show and is competing with four other artists for a spot in the Top 12.

He advanced from the knockout round last week after singing Boston’s “More Than a Feeling,” but said he wasn’t happy with the performance and promised fans on Twitter that he’d do better this week.

Here’s where the other artists landed on iTunes overall and genre charts:

#27 overall: Tessanne Chin, “Many Rivers To Cross,” number 15 on the pop chart;
#34 overall: Will Champlin, “Secrets,” number 16 on the pop chart;
#37 overall: Austin Jenckes, “She Talks to Angels,” number one on the rock chart;
#38 overall: Ray Boudreaux, “Home,” number two on the rock chart;
#39 overall: Cole Vosbury, “Maggie May,” number three on the rock chart;
#83 overall: Preston Pohl, “Nothin’ on You,” number 33 on the pop chart;
#113 overall: Nic Hawk, “Blurred Lines,” number 39 on the pop chart;
#119 overall: Shelbie Z., “Fancy,” number 21 on the country chart;
didn’t chart: Grey, “Still Into You,” number 39 on the alternative chart.

Tessanne, Will, Preston and Grey are teammates of James.

Austin, Ray, Cole, Nic and Shelbie compete for Team Blake.
