* Matthew Schuler from Season 5 released “Without a Trace,” a Christian single and the first song from his upcoming debut album last week. Matthew has hoped to release the album in late May, but has now pushed that back to late summer or early fall. “Perfection is taking more time than I’d hoped,” he writes on Instagram. “I’m so excited for you all to hear what I’ve been working on!” Matthew finished Top 6 on The Voice and released an impressive pop EP called “We Rule the Night” in November.

* Kat Perkins from Season 6 hadn’t released music since 2020, but has now dropped three singles in a month. She followed up late May’s “Burn Fire Burn” with the recent release of “Sometimes” and “Not Your Type.” Kat’s also been singing background on the Kid Rock Bad Reputation tour this year and just left for the Middle East to spend the July 4 holiday performing for troops serving overseas.

* KillWill, aka Will Champlin, a finalist from Season 5, continues to weigh in on the polarized state of today’s politics in his new song, “Toy Soldiers.” There’s a music video, which you can check out below. And there’s a second version of the song — complete with a separate music video — featuring The Marine Rapper. The two are frequent collaborators.
