Season 11, Season 11 finals

Jermaine Jones’ official Idol Twitter account disabled

3

Last night, TMZ.com reported that one of the final 12 contestants on American Idol would be disqualified during Wednesday night’s show.

A few minutes later, Jermaine Jones sent out the following tweet:  “Aww, I will no longer b on the show.”

That tweet was deleted within moments, but then Jermaine starting re-tweeting reactions to the TMZ report.

By this morning, his official Idol Twitter account had been disabled, too, pretty much assuring that he’s the contestant in question.

Even Jeremy Rosado, the contestant eliminated last week, still has an active Idol Twitter account.

Speaking of Jeremy, what does Idol do this week if all of this is true?

There’s a performance show tonight, and singers were supposed to be fighting for a spot in the final 11.

Now, apparently, there are only 11.   And the singing is still hours away.

Does Idol go through the motions this week and have the singers perform knowing no one will be eliminated?

If so, how do they handle the Thursday night elimination show, which would seem totally pointless if Ryan Seacrest and the gang can’t stress out at least a couple of anxious contestants and their fans?

So far, FOX has not responded to the TMZ reports or given any indication of how the situation will be handled.

But you’d have to think bringing back Jeremy Rosado would be one option.

Meanwhile, Jermaine, 25, of Pine Hill, N.J., didn’t seem a serious threat to go deep into the show anyway.

The guy dubbed the “gentle giant” by Ryan finished among the bottom three guys last week and ranked 13th among contestants in the number of Twitter followers and Facebook “likes” when I checked a week ago.

This sounds like a ratings ploy. I doubt they didn’t know about Jermaine weeks ago. They kept saying “gentle giant” to make sure we all thought he was so sweet so they could spring this on us. Why would he even try to go on tv when he knew he had that in his background?
