How cool was it that American Idol invited back four non-finalists to perform an original song medley on Sunday’s show?

Between performances by the Top 3, the quartet of Jonny Brenns, Harper Grace, Catie Turner and Michelle Sussett returned to perform originals from earlier in Season 16.

Harper started off the medley with her country single “Yard Sale” and Jonny sang “Blue Jeans.” Both songs are available on iTunes. And, in a smart marketing move, Harper also dropped the music video for “Yard Sale” on Sunday.

Michelle sang “I Am a Dreamer” and Catie chimed in with “21st Century TV,” alerting fans that she had to alter one line so it’d be suitable for prime time TV. Those two songs have not been released yet.

Said Jonny on Twitter: “Such a blast singing blue jeans again for @AmericanIdol. i started my journey with that song, and ending my journey with it was beautiful closure. thank you all for loving me, it helps me love myself :’)
