Kim Cruse nabs save as Voice fans pick semifinalists

First, Kim Cruse earned a standing ovation from The Voice coaches for her save performance of “Believe.”

Then she received the instant save she needed to survive Tuesday’s elimination show and advance to next week’s Season 22 semifinals.

I guess that all falls under the category of all’s well that ends well.

But, folks, Kim Cruse and that amazing voice of hers should never have been in the bottom two.

Ousted as a result of her instant save win were Kique of Team Gwen and Rowan Grace of Team Blake, the first member of his team to fall since fan voting began.

That leaves a Top 8 semifinal field that includes the other three members of Team Blake — Bodie, Brayden Lape and Bryce Leatherwood.

Also advancing were Justin Aaron of Team Gwen, Morgan Myles of Team Camila and Omar Cardona and Parijita of Team Legend.

As a singer from South Dakota, Rowan was a disadvantage as soon as she landed in instant save territory.

By the time The Voice aired in her hometown, the instant save had already been decided.

Kique faced an obstacle of a different sort. Diagnosed with COVID last week, his save performance was pre-recorded.

Next week, the Top 8 will each sing a solo song and a Whitney Houston duet with spots in the Season 22 finale on the line.
