His audition: Anthony Ortiz, 20, of Tampa, Fla., auditioned with “What Makes You Beautiful” by One Direction. He prompted a chair turn from Adam Levine, who complimented his potential. Since Adam was the only coach to turn, Anthony automatically became Team Adam.

More about Anthony:

* This isn’t Anthony’s first attempt at a singing show. About three years ago, he tried out for Season 1 of La Banda, a Univision show featuring young Spanish-language singers.

* Though born in Florida, Anthony was raised in San Jose, Calif., and now calls the L.A. area home.

* In 2018, he released a five-song debut EP called “Unfinished Business.” The standout track is “That Feeling,” a song that also became a music video. You can check it out below. He also has a couple of singles to his credit.

* In a YouTube Q&A video, Anthony talks about how he got hooked on music. It happened when he was about 16. At the time, he was into skateboarding and had wanted to become a professional at that “as long as I can remember.” For some reason, Anthony says he can’t remember why, his dad took his skateboard away one day. He picked up his guitar and learned his favorite song in about an hour. “I went to a beach, played in front of a bunch of people and made a couple of hundred dollars in a couple hours,” he said. “I started going more and more and realized I liked the music more than just making the money.”

* His songs were streamed 144,000 times on Spotify in 2018, and Anthony celebrated with an Instagram post. “I know I have so much more progress to make, but this is a crazy reality check for me because I’m still very fresh and very new in the music industry and this is a personal achievement that I’m so stoked over,” he wrote.

* On The Voice, we saw only a snippet of his audition. “Adam turned around right on the first chorus of the song and I was super stoked, but I kept my cool and finished the performance before I fully reacted. The experience was so much fun; I learned so much as an artist.”

* Anthony said the version of “What Makes You Beautiful” that he performed on The Voice was actually a cover of the 1975 version of the song. “I really liked it and thought I could maybe bring something a little different,” he told Voice Views.

* He also said he was thrilled to land on Team Adam because “I feel most relatable to him as an artist.”
