American Idol returns for Season 18 on Sunday, Feb. 16.

Among the artists to announce they auditioned is Arthur Gunn.

Here’s more about Arthur.

* Arthur Gunn is the stage name for Dibesh Pokharel, a singer-songwriter from Nepal who has also called Wichita, Kansas, home.

* In a May 2019 interview, Dibesh said he starting thinking about using a stage name while working on his debut album “Grahan,” an eight-song collection that dropped in the summer of 2018.

* And while he admits Arthur Gunn was a rather random choice, he notes that the first three letters spell art, adding: “I am fascinated with art in every form and outcomes it can create.”

* Dibesh says he doesn’t hail from a musical family, but was fortunate enough to grow up around music and be exposed to it at an early age.

* But at one point, he stopped singing for a long time before picking it back up again about six years ago.

* Among his inspirations, he lists John Martyn, Nick Drake, Bob Dylan, Bukka White, Robert Johnson, Howlin’ Wolf, Sonny Boy Williamson, John Lee Hooker. But he added that he draws inspiration from nature and “pretty much anything, as long as you allow yourself to be inspired.”

* He toured to support “Grahan” and followed up with three singles in 2019 — “Ma,” “Khoj” and “Karnali (The River)” — the latter of which was released in late December. Check it out below. Those singles mark the start of another album or EP, Dibest has informed fans on social media.

* His most popular song to date in terms of Spotify streams is “Nyano Ghar” from the “Grahan” album with about 6,000 streams.

* Head to Dibesh’s YouTube channel and you can check out most of his originals. If it’s covers you want, head to Instagram where he’s posted several song snippets, most recently a cover of “Wait in Vain” by Bob Marley and the Wailers.

* Writes Dibesh on Instagram: “Respect the dead, cherish the living, that’s the way you define your life. Everything shall go, everybody will be gone. Don’t think you will go good if you don’t do good.”

Keep checking back. More Season 18 American Idol profiles are on the way.
