Ashley Hess auditioned for American Idol Season 17.

But the singer-songwriter is likely to be spending some time back in her home state this year.

She’s one of the contestant who tried out — and is rumored to have done very well — on American Idol Season 17.

Here’s more about Ashley:

* Ashley describes herself as a pop / R&B singer-songwriter and has three recent originals available on iTunes and streaming sites — “Into You,” “Time” and “Running.” The latter is her latest single, dropping in August. You can check it out below.

* Ashley sings the title track and “Lay It Down” on a Christian album called “Worth of Souls” that was released last April. She also duets with Jordan Moyes on a song call “Oceans” and the album features a track by former American Idol contestant Kenzie Hall.

* She’s also released a wide range of covers, including “Uptown Fun / Grenade” and “All About That Bass.” Her debut EP, from 2013, is still available. And she’s been working on a follow-up EP, set for release later this year.

* Four years ago, she posted a mashup of the “13 best Disney songs” to YouTube. The video has been viewed nearly 5 million times.

* Her website bio says Ashley grew up singing in church. But it wasn’t until she moved to Provo, Utah, and immersed herself in the local music scene there that she became more serious about songwriting and performing. That happened about six years ago.

* Ashley moved to Nashville last summer. “So excited to see what this next chapter in life has in store,” she wrote on Instagram.

* Says Ashley on her website: “There is no better feeling than going through the process of creating a song, performing that song, and having people connect with the song that I created. Those are the moments I live for. Getting out there, playing my music and establishing a connection.”
