Meet Beat Frequency of Team Christina on The Voice

4

Duos don’t have a history of success on The Voice.

The husband and wife team named Beat Frequency hopes to change that.

The husband is 35-year-old Shawn Lewis, veteran of a Christian rock band.

The wife is Natasha Neuschwander, 28, who has worked as a studio vocalist and professional sports dancer.

They met in church and now do music full time from their home in Vancouver, deciding to join forces in their quest for success.

“Our voices were born to do this together,” says Natasha.

On The Voice, they sang Katy Perry’s “E.T.” as their audition song. They had barely started when Christina Aguilera turned around.

She turned out to be the only coach to do so, but Adam Levine called them the best duo the judges had seen to date.

What the show didn’t show: This isn’t the couple’s first attempt at taking the televised path to stardom. According to their Facebook page, they tried out for America’s Got Talent and made it to the boot camp phase on the first season of X Factor. Married since 2004, Natasha and Shawn released their first album as Beat Frequency — “Love is All I Need” — in October 2011. Electro-driven pop, you can find it on iTunes and listen to full-length versions of the songs here. Check out “Wicked Girl Evil Boy” and “On R Way 2 Freakn.” They are now working on a second album, tentatively titled “We’re On Our Way.” Follow that link and you’ll find the title track. Shawn’s previous band? Hyper Static Union, which also has music on iTunes.
