Her audition: Brandy Neelly, 31, Louisville, Kentucky, “Lesson in Leavin'” by Jo Dee Messina: She delivers her country with a dash of spice. This should be interesting, because in her bio segment, we find out that she makes cakes and made one for Riley Green’s birthday. And she’s about halfway through this performance when Riley turns. That seemed to send Brandy into another gear, and she enticed a chair turn from Queen Latifah as well. Latifah liked her energy and her voice. Riley complimented the soul in her voice and said that sound will help her stand out. He also vowed to make Brandy a cake is she picked him as her coach. Kelly Clarkson called it “a tasty victory.” (Watch her audition below)

* She’s a 31-year-old artist from Louisville, Kentucky, who is now based in Nashville and already has music out.

* That already released music includes a 2025 single called “Tequila Memory,” which you can check out below. And a 2024 country version of Avril Lavigne’s hit song “Complicated.”

* And just days before The Voice premiere, she dropped a lovely ballad called “Fall Like Rain.” Brandy co-wrote the song. “Some songs you have to fight for, and some songs just Fall Like Rain,” she writes on Instagram.

* Brandy also hits The Voice stage with ample singing show experience. She auditioned for American Idol for four straights years beginning in 2011 when she was just 15.

* She earned a golden ticket to Hollywood all four seasons. And at age 18 in Season 13, she made it all the way to the Top 30. That was the season Idol unveiled a never-again-used Rush Week, in which 30 singers advanced, but only 20 got to sing. Brandy was among the 10 singers eliminated in that round without a chance to sing.

* After graduating high school, Brandy attended Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green while traveling to Nashville regularly for songwriting sessions.

* She released a six-song debut EP called “Honest” in 2019. She’s released at least six singles since. A frequent performer at The Listening Room in Nashville, she played her first sold-out show there in August 2024.

* In her Apple music bio, she recalls one of her earliest music memories as “driving to Florida with my grandpa as a little girl and singing Martina McBride in the car. He looked at me with surprise and said, ‘you can sing!’ I’ve been singing ever since.”

* Brandy has more than 17,000 followers and nearly 2 million likes on her TikTok.
