Idol Chatter & Voice Views

His audition: Cal Cook, 28, Salt Lake City, Utah, “The Dress” by Dijon: The Voice aired just a snippet of his performance. Cal showed off great range and enticed a chair turn from Adam Levine but no one else. So he automatically became Team Adam. Still, Queen Latifah said she’d download Cal’s version of the song. Adam called the performance “beautiful” and said Cal had a really great approach to the song and a fabulous tone. (Watch his audition below)

Here’s more about Cal:

* He’s from Utah and describes himself as a pop / alternative and R&B artist. And he already has music out.

* Much of that was released with a band called CalJo in the 2023-24 time frame, though you’ll find it under Cal Cook on streaming sites.

* He dropped six-song EP in 2025 called “Cerebral.” The lead track is called “Running.” Cal says he wrote the song about his tendency to want to run away from his problems.

* He released his most recent single, “Switch,” early this month. “I wrote this song about changing parts of myself to try and please other people. Been waiting a long time for y’all to hear this one,” he writes on social media.

* Judging from Cal’s social media, a music video is coming for “Switch.” Check out a snippet of the sog below.
