His audition: Brett Carlisle, 28, Birmingham, Ala., performed “House of Broken Love” by Great White: He was part of a montage of rock singers. He sounded great, but we heard very little feedback from the judges. Based on their expressions and the golden ticket Brett received, they must have been impressed.

Here’s more about Brett:

* He’s a rocker from Birmingham, Ala., who has released music with his own band, solo music and fronts a classic band from the 1980s.

* That would be Great White of “Once Bitten, Twice Shy” fame. Brett has been serving as the band’s lead singer since 2022 when he was 25.

* It turned out to be a great fit because he was already fronting a band called “All of Nothing” that had covered Great White hits like “Save Your Love,” “Rock Me” and “Lady Red Light.” Check out a snippet of Brett singing the latter song below.

* On Spotify, “All of Nothing” is described as performing “80s Hair Metal influenced originals with a modern twist.”

* The band released its first single in 2020, its latest (“Escape”) in 2024 and an EP (“Aon”) in 2022. And in March they announced they’re working on new music.

* Brett has also released six singles of his own, all in the past two years. The latest was “How It Goes” from May. It’s a hypnotic song that shows Brett can do much more than belt rock classics.

* A self-taught guitar player and singer, Brett has been playing guitar since he was young and joined the band that became All of Nothing when he was just 15.

* His early influences included Van Halen, Skidrow and Metallica, he told Blabbermouth.net.

* In his Spotify bio, he describes his sound as “a blend of rock, blues and soul, infused with raw emotion.”

* Brett announced his Idol audition in November, saying he couldn’t reveal too much about how it went, but appreciated all the people who came to share the moment.

* Wrote Brett: “@ryanseacrest said outside those doors was probably the biggest group (of supporters) he’s seen seen on the show, and that means more to me than any competition.”
