Carson Peters from The Voice Season 21

Carson Peters is among the musicians to announce that they auditioned for Season 21 of The Voice.

The Voice returns to NBC on Monday, Sept. 20. Here’s more about Carson.

* The Voice has leaked Carson’s audition. He turns four chairs with a performance of “Tulsa Time.”

* Just 17, he’ll be one of the youngest contestants on the show, but hardly the least seasoned or the least well-known.

* At age 11, his singing and fiddling skills landed him a spot on “Little Big Shots,” hosted by Steve Harvey. He also performed on the The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.

* And he made his Grand Ole Opry debut in 2014, invited to join Ricky Skaggs on stage and perform the Bill Monroe classic “Blue Moon of Kentucky.”

* According to his web bio, his musical experience goes back even farther than that. He began playing fiddle at age 3. At age 4, he began performing at music festivals and in fiddle competitions.

* He’s now the front man for the traditional bluegrass band Carson Peters and Iron Mountain.

* The band has released three albums, beginning with a self-titled effort in 2017. The other albums are “Praises from the Mountain,” which landed in 2018; and “Grass Stains,” released in 2019.

* The latter is the only one of the three available on streaming sites, and it includes another version of “Blue Moon of Kentucky.” Check out a live performance of the title track, “Grass Stains,” below.

* The band has also performed extensively and Carson has returned to the Grand Ole Opry stage several times with his band mates in tow.

* In July, the band felt compelled to take to social media to assure fans that Iron Mountain had not disbanded and that Carson had not left the group. “Carson had an opportunity for this summer that has required him to be out of town. The end date for that is still unclear but is only temporary,” the notice reads in part.

* Of course, this summer is when The Voice was filming the pre-recorded parts of Season 21, especially the battle and knockout rounds.
