Her audition: EllieMae, 21, Jerome, Idaho, performed “Merry Go Round” by Kacey Musgraves. EllieMae was well into the song when she enticed a chair turn from Blake Shelton. And that prompted quite a smile from the gal from Idaho. And a few tears. Blake said he loves her folksy sound. And since he was the only one to turn, EllieMae automatically became a member of Team Blake.

Here’s more about EllieMae.

* She’s EllieMae Millenkamp when not on stage and she grew up on a farm, saying her parents started out with three cows and now have 100,000 head. That would be the Millenkamp Cattle operation, which produces 1 million pounds of milk her day, according to its website.

* EllieMae said she’s always felt a bit pressured to work on the farm. She’s studying agricultural business at Iowa State University, but says she’d also like a chance to make a name for herself with her music.

* On her website, she says she felt drawn to music at a young age, took piano lessons and taught herself to play guitar.

* EllieMae got involved with her school’s worship team when she was in middle school and says she was leading her school’s worship team as well as her church’s once she reached high school.

* She says her love for songwriting was spurred by “a weird breakup” when she was a high school junior. “I started taking all of these personal experiences and starting writing about them. I would play them for my friends and family and they seemed to like it! BONUS!”

* On Facebook, she describes her music as country folk / pop.

* She released her first single, the excellent “Russian Roulette” in 2017. She followed that up with another in 2018 and has released two so far this year, the catchy “Coors Light and Jesus Christ” and the playful “I Like You.”

* EllieMae told Voice Views see really didn’t start playing gigs as a solo artist until a couple of years ago, after a friend started urging her to write more music and perform more.

* She’s since performed the national anthem at the inaugural ball for the governor and Idaho and performed at a couple of festivals in her hometown, Gordy’s HWY 30 Music Fest and Twin Falls Western Days.

* She’ll graduate college in December and says more original music is on the way.
