His audition: Gean Garcia, 19, of McAllen, Texas, auditioned with “All I Want” by Kodaline. Blake Shelton turned early in the performance. Nick Jonas turned too, but was blocked by Blake. Kelly Clarkson joined them late in Gean’s performance. Kelly complimented Gean on a voice that sounded “beautifully broken” and predicted he’ll go far on the show. Gean opted to join Team Kelly.

Here’s more about Gean:

* Though he now resides in Texas, he was born and grew up in New York and told The Voice he’s always felt music was part of his DNA.

* That’s mainly because his dad, Jon Carlo, is a Spanish Christian artist. Jon Carlo has three albums on Spotify where his songs have been streams millions of times.

* Inspired by his dad, Gean learned guitar as age 6 and started singing to accompany his guitar playing. He performed in a seventh-grade talent show, got a good reception and has been performing ever since.

* At age 15, he toured with his dad around the U.S., Mexico and Colombia.

* They also released a song together called “Mi Familia,” which become very popular in Colombia, Gean said. He was 17 at the time. You can check out the song below.

* Though he loves Spanish music, Gean told The Voice he enjoys singing songs from many genres, from slow love songs to upbeat pop songs.

* Gean gold Voice Views he chose “All I Want” for his audition song because of the connection he feels to the Kodaline hit. “It is a song I’ve dedicated to someone special in my life, and I can express my emotions most accurately through the songs I choose to sing … I understand love to be a universal language, and I sang that song specifically, knowing that many people would connect with it on a personal level.”

* Gean said he opted to join Team Kelly because “she is very passionate about her position as a coach and takes it seriously. I’ve watched the show for many years, and I love how she perceives her artists. It’s visibly a passion she chooses and not just about the drama of a tv show.”

* Gean says he’s been working on original music “most prominently in the past two years. Typically, I would describe my music as piercing and passionate because I work to write lyrics from my heart to best connect with those who listen to me.”

* Gean adds that he was approached about auditioning for the show and was eager to participate “because I’ve been a huge fan of the show for years.”
