Her audition: Jackie Romeo, 20, of Massapequa, N.Y., performed “Flowers” by Miley Cyrus. She showed off a really unique tone. Her very impressive opening was enough to get a chair turn from John Legend. Jackie’s showed some power behind those vocals too. A big note got Dan + Shay to turn as well. Shay called it “unbelievable” and a phenomenal performance. Dan said the vocal kept getting better and better. John said he liked the song performance and the way she made the song her own. Jackie joined Team Legend.

Here’s more about Jackie:

* She’s a pop / soul singer-songwriter.

* She released her debut single, “Pretty Girls” in the summer of 2023. It’s a song that was written for her by her mentor, 1980s pop superstar Debbie Gibson.

* Says Jackie: “Pretty Girls is a song about comparison and how it can be easy to feel small when looking at others accomplishments and appearances on social media.

* She adds: “Ultimately everyone has insecurities and they face different challenges. Life is hard as it is, instead of judging someone or self loathing, we should be lifting each other up.”

* The song also has special meaning to Jackie because she was extremely shy growing up. When she got up the confidence to post singing videos online, some responses were focused more on her weight than her talent. So she went back into a shell. Seeing Lizzo succeed helped Jackie immensely, she said during her Voice bio segment.

* Jackie was 14 when she met Debbie by attending her “Electric Youth” recording workshop.

* “She genuinely cares about young talent, and when she takes you under her wing you’re a friend for life,” Jackie says.

* Debbie also had Jackie open for her on some L.A. and East Coast dates of her 2022 “The Body Remembers Tour.” On Instagram, Debbie praises Jackie’s “glorious voice.”

* According to her web bio, Jackie began singing alongside her mom in church when she was young and later in talent shows.

* She graduated from the Long Island School of Performing Arts in 2021 and was also a semifinals at Amateur Night at the Apollo in 2022.
