Jovin Webb, a Louisiana-based musician, auditioned for American Idol Season 18.

American Idol returns for Season 18 on Sunday, Feb. 16.

And among the singers already announcing they auditioned is Jovin Webb.

Here’s more about Jovin:

* He’s lead singer in a pair of bands performing in Louisiana and the southeast, Bayou Bullets and Captain Green.

* Bayou Bullets is five-piece rock/blues band, based on information from its Facebook page. Jovin joined the group in October 2017.

* The band released an EP pre-dating that and a single since — “Kiss & Tell” from 2018.

* Captain Green is a Baton Rouge funk-jazz-fusion band that also performs at events and weddings. It released an album called “Jazz Noise” in 2017, but it’s strictly instrumental.

* Jovin also has his own original music, and I’ve embedded a snippet of a southern-blues song called “When I’m Gone” below.

* Jovin posted a photo announcing his audition for Idol way back on Jan. 1, encouraging fans to watch and see if he advanced.

* His YouTube channel features an impressive range of covers, from Otis Redding to Chris Stapleton to Radiohead.

* On Facebook, he describes himself as “just an artist and musician from Louisiana who has a passion for music and wants to share it with the world!”
