Julia Garguno of Staten Island, N.Y., is among the talented singers who auditioned for American Idol Season 18

Among the talented singers who have announced they auditioned is Julia Gargano.

Here’s more about Julia.

* She’s a 20-year-old singer-songwriter born and raised in Staten Island, N.Y.

* She attended LaGuardia performing arts high school and is studying composition at the College of Saint Rose in Albany, NY., according to her web bio.

* That bio says Julia began writing songs and recording at a young age — since age 6, according to a bio in the St. Rose Chronicle. Julia says her parents were going through a divorce, she needed an outlet and turned to music.

* She’s been performing jazz around New York since she was a teenager, including frequent performances at the Bitter End since she was 13.

* Julia’s signed to the Rose Record Label Group and has released eight songs you’ll find on streaming sites, “Written in My Name” (2016), “Sun” and “Spaceman” (both 2017) before that affiliation and “Turn Cold,” “Diamonds,” “The Other Side” (2018), “Tired” (2019) and “Tell Me Why” (2020) since. The impressive “Tell Me Why” came out on Jan. 10, and you can check it out below.

* Julia also kicked off a new acoustic session on YouTube with the start of the new year. She’s posted three songs so far — an acoustic version of “Tired,” a new original called “One of a Kind” and “Bad Idea,” an Ariana Grande cover.

* In launching that series, Julia also wrote: “I have a real good feeling about this year and i’m excited to bring y’all so much more music n videos n other super fun stuff.”
