Here’s more about Kat.
* On YouTube, she identifies herself as a 17 year-old singer-songwriter from San Diego and adds “I love singing, playing piano, and writing music!” She’s now 18.
* According to her Voice bio, she starting singing in church choir when she was in fourth grade and then devoted herself to learning piano.
* Kat grew up listening to the music of the 1960s and 1970s. She said she and her dad would play a guess-the-artist game while traveling and listening to the oldies.
* She described herself as an “introvert” in her Voice bio, but added that “I have a different personality on stage, for sure.”
* She’s already released a pair of singles available on digital music sites, including “Legacy” from 2017 and “Anyone At All” from last summer. Check out the latter below.
* Kat has a unique singing voice, which you should also check out on that YouTube channel. Her Post Malone mashup of “Better Now” and “Rich & Sad” is especially impressive.
* She graduated from La Costa Canyon High School in May.
* Kat has performed at Carnegie Hall on at least three occasions, at least twice as part of the Distinguished Concerts International New York program.
* That said, as a solo artist, Kat said she’s done a few gigs, performing at coffee shops, “not anything big though. I never thought I would be going to The Voice.”
* According to this brief story on star941fm.iheart.com, her musical influences include Billy Joel and Emily King.
